This coffee project takes it’s name from the traditional white attire worn by Chapoleras (the women pickers) when harvesting the coffee. It’s said that they looked like seagulls, or ‘Gaviotas’, moving through the coffee farms.
This coffee is produced by 40 women who own farms ranging between 1 to 5 hectares in Huila, at average altitudes of 1500 to 1600m . This association of female owned coffee farms, led by Ana Gloria Rodriguez, are focused on quality alongside the passion that they have for their lands and region.
The association aims to explore new ways to commercialize their coffee, intending to positively impact the community and generate higher incomes. Additionally, through their sustainable practices, they seek to mitigate the effects of climate change.
